ABOUT

The Collectif 15 mars is an autonomous group of activists from diverse backgrounds united behind a central position : opposition to police interventions , brutal or not. The Collectif 15 mars oppose racial, social and political profiling. The Collectif 15 mars calls for an end to police stops and mixed squads (social workers and police officers) and to the presence of private security agencies in the public space.

The Collectif 15 mars is based in Tiohtià:ke (so-called Montréal), an unceded indigenious territory, and recognizes that the Kanien’kehá:ka nation is the guardian of the lands and waters on which it organizes.

WHY COLLECTIF 15 MARS ?

The name Collectif 15 mars stems from a desire, or hope that people will take over the organization of the Annual Demonstration Against Police Brutality (held on March 15th every year since 1997) and thus insure its continued existence.

If the current members of the Collectif 15 mars cease all involvement, anyone else can take up the name, which is intended to be simple and generic, if they wish.

March 15th is a militant tradition that belongs to the community, not to one or a few individual(s).

The Collectif 15 mars include activists from several generations, some create short-, medium- or long-term projects, sometimes on an intermittent basis, as they believe that perpetual political involvement or a permanent position in an organization contributes to power dynamics that should be avoided. Members from the current Collectif 15 mars believe that it is necessary to give space for other people to perpetuate, reinvent or reorient an organization or a militant tradition.

In that spirit, the Collectif 15 mars is open to listen to anyone who wants to get involved in its organization.

BEHIND COLLECTIF15MARS.ORG

The Collectif 15 mars website is hosted (and was created) by No Gods No Masters Network, which has been providing web servers and programming help to anarchist activists since 2001. Initially known as Resistance Network, No Gods No Masters Network later teamed up with Anarkhia to build their own self-managed servers.

No Gods No Masters Network’s programmers create custom-made apps and tools for the communities they host, providing anarchist activists with tools that are usually reserved for ”professionals”.
